Augusta Center Hosts Annual Barbecue

For over 15 years Augusta Center hosts an annual barbecue at the end of
summer. This two-day event features a party on the first day, followed by a "Yard Sale" with donated items from staff and the community, with all proceeds donated to the Augusta Center resident council.
All patients are encouraged to enjoy the event outside under the large tent. Also on the invite list are families, employees, friends of the center, and former patients and their families. Our Dining Services team prepares all the food, which included pulled pork, hamburgers, hotdogs, B-B-Q baked beans, fruited cole slaw, corn on the cob, fresh garden vegetable
rotini salad, homemade apple crisp, watermelon and more!

The food was excellent and is the hi-light of the B-B-Q, as always, and we received so many compliments from attendees about everything, especially the pulled pork. The pork recipe is right off our in-house menu and is served here  to patients twice monthly.

And speaking of the great food - our dietitian, Marcy Lawless, was onsite with a table set-up to answer questions on
healthy eating options, as well as providing handouts for attendees.
This year’s entertainment was provided by The Maranacook String Band, bluegrass music.
